Spielberg’s Curriculum

Found a link today to list of 200 movies that supposedly make up “Spielberg’s Curriculum”, movies he requires people to have seen if they are going to work with him.  I don’t know if that’s for directors, actors, producers or what.  This is the link to the actual doc and this is the blog I got it from.

I have only seen 25 out of the 200.  That’s 12%.  To quote one of the commenters on Badass Digest, I ‘Spielsuck’.  Oh well, this probably isn’t authentic anyway.  For one thing, the list breaks up “The Godfather” into three separate listings, but only has one listing for “Star Wars” in general.  That sort of trickery just to make it an even 200 seems more like something internet junkies vying for views would do than an esteemed director.  Right?

Here are the ones I’ve seen:

  • Adam’s Rib
  • The Birds
  • Citizen Kane
  • A Clockwork Orange
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still
  • The Great Escape
  • The Godfather
  • The Grapes of Wrath
  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • Lolita
  • The Magnificent Seven
  • Metropolis
  • My Fair Lady
  • National Velvet
  • One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest
  • Rosemary’s Baby
  • Seven Samurai
  • Some Like it Hot
  • Sound of Music
  • Star Wars
  • Sunset Boulevard
  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • West Side Story
  • White Christmas

How many have you seen?
